Description
Pirate Ship at Morro Rock Large by Floyd Snyder
This photo was taken from Tideland Park's sandbox in Morro Bay, California. It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The 2-acre park, located at the south end of the Embarcadero, is perfect for picnics, weddings, children's birthday parties, or just lounging on the well-maintained lawn.
The park has a nautical theme and features a sand-play area with a pirate ship, seal statues, a whale's tail, and a crow's nest which the children have nicknamed the "Pirate Park". There are also picnic areas with barbecues and a stunning view of Morro Rock and the bay, making it an ideal spot for a weekend play date with friends and family.
The park offers stairs that lead down to the mud flats, allowing visitors to have a hands-on look at the wildlife that resides there. Additionally, there is a fish cleaning station, a side-tie dock with access to a pump-out for waste, and freshwater is available for boaters. The restrooms have showers for transient boaters, and there is a public launch nearby.
