Description
Tigers Folly Morro Bay by Barbara Snyder
If you've ever visited Morro Bay, you might recall the Tiger's Folly. The establishment was named after its original owner, George Teague Sr., who was nicknamed Tiger. The name Tiger's Folly was likely inspired by the fact that the only boats that looked out of place on the ocean were old-fashioned styled riverboats or paddle boats.
We used to tease George Sr. by saying he was a riverboat captain who took a wrong turn.
The harbor cruise was a must-do in Morro Bay for years and was operated by George Jr. for years right up until the early 2000s when it finally had to be dry docked for good as the cost of operation and maintenance finally sunk the business.
I can remember so many parties, fund raisers and just casual dinner of brunch cruises I did aboard the California classic tourist attraction.
A member of the 3rd generation of the Teague family still at the helm of the Harbor Hut restaurant on the embarcadero.
