Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

Cesar Pattein was born on September 30, 1850. He first studied engraving under Guillaume Alphonse Cabasson. In 1878 he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Lille in the ateliers of Alphonse Colas, a portrait and religious scene painter born and raised in Lille, and a Mr. Bascoppet.

Pattein exhibited for the first time at an exposition in Lille in 1881, where he showed Portrait d’une Fillette (Portrait of a Young Girl). Throughout his career he remained deeply involved in many expositions in cities outside of Paris, showing that he held strong ties to his native city. This same year he was forced to go to Arras for military service and he ended up spending nearly eight years there, during which time he concentrated his efforts on commissioned portraits and also scenes of rustic life. It was in Arras that he became very much involved in the Union Artistique, a group which held yearly exhibitions.
