Autumn Neglect by Barbara Snyder
We are very fortunate to live just a few miles off the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail in Santa Barbara Country, California.
Just a few miles East of Santa Maria, there are several of the best wineries and tasting rooms in all of California.
When you visit the area in the summer months these facilities are manicured at their best and look their best. Even in the autumn and winter months, the groundskeepers try to keep the grounds and buildings looking as spiffy as they can when the weather allows it.
We took a tour of several of our favorite wineries and Barb found this neglected plant sitting on a gorgeous all stone shelf with a matching stone wall. We remember seeing it just a few months back when it was all alive and looking its best.
But we both liked the weathered version of it as it reveals the reality of winter weather winning out over the most gallant efforts of the best caregivers in the business.
