Retired Relics by Barbara Snyder
Nestled in the hills that surround the stunning Edna Valley, just east of San Luis Obispo, California, lies a remarkable cattle ranch that is still operational to this day. This unique ranch has managed to survive in an industry that has been witnessing its range of land being gradually consumed by vineyards, which are primarily used to produce grapes to feed the wine industry.
Despite facing numerous challenges, such as droughts, barbed wire, and even vegetarians, the great American cowboy way of life has persevered. However, the question remains: Will it be able to withstand the world's unquenchable thirst for wine? It is a question that has been haunting the industry for years and one that only time can answer. Nonetheless, the cattle ranch remains a testament to the enduring spirit of the American cowboy.
