Description
Henry Inman (1801-1846) Born in Utica, New
York, Inman was hired to copy Indian portraits, most of which
were originally illustrated by Charles Bird King. Inman established
his own art studio in New York City in 1827, and later
moved to Philadelphia to be a partner in a lithography firm. An
apprentice to John Wesley Jarvis, he was also a noted historian
of the West.
