Description
The Fall of the Cowboy Stylized by Floyd Snyder
This is a stylized rendition of the famous painting by Frederic Remington.
If Van Gogh had visited the old west this is what he might have painted. This is an original image crated for the original Remington painting, the artist and Nigh Cafe AI.
Frederic Remington was born in 1861 in Canton, New York and died in Ridgefield, Connecticut at the age of 48.
In spite of the East Coast upbringing, he is recognized as one of the all-time great painters and sculptors whose work featured the Western United States focusing on the American Cowboy, Native American Indians, and the U.S. Clavery.
The Fall of the Cowboy, featuring two cowboys mending fencing show the dull and dreary life of the cowboy working in cold of winter. The fencing of the open range and particularly barbed wire are credited with destroying the cowboy way of life, drifting and across the west herding cows and working for cattle drives. The railroads probably had as much to do with the demise of the lifestyle as the fencing. This is probably one of the Remingtons most famous images.
Other favorites of Remington's would include A Dash For The Timber, Victory Dance, and The Cowboy. These, as well as others, can be found in our gallery.
