Description
See Saw by Fred Morgan
Fred Morgan was a painter of children, domestic genre, and animal portraits similar in style to Arthur John Elsley. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1865, as well as at the British Institution, Suffolk Street, Grosvenor Gallery and various other venues.
Titles at the Royal Academy include: “Just Caught” and “The Dolls Tea Party”.
Morgan was one of the most popular painters of his time. From the first, he applied himself to the painting of animals, of people and of course children; and he owes his name to the charm which he knew how to give his minors.
Morgan’s paintings of children were very popular and were often reproduced. Some of his works can be seen in the Leeds Art Gallery, Sheffield Art Galleries and Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
