Description
Red Dog Saloon Juneau Alaska by Barbara Snyder
The Red Dog Saloon was first opened for business during the heydays of the Klondike Gold Rush. The establishment advertised "hospitality and fellowship to weary travelers and local patrons alike".
One of the owners, Gordie Kanous, used to meet the tour boats with his mule that wore a sign that read "follow my ass to the Red Dog Saloon".
The floor is covered in sawdust and the walls are covered with antiques including priceless guns and a collection of furs.
The music is loud, the beer is cold and the grub is fantastic... a must on any stopover in Juneau. But make sure you allow plenty of time so you don't miss your cruise ship departure because there could be a long wait for a table!
