Description
Price Historical Park by Floyd Snyder
Historic Ranch and 1893 Price Anniversary House
Vaquero Juan Miguel Prais ran cattle on Rancho Pismo as mayordomo before purchasing the land and settling his wife Maria Andrea Carlon and their young family into old adobes on the rancho—just as California became a state.
As American statehood settled over California, John Michael Price readopted his English name and language, established Rancho del Pismo, and founded the town of Pismo.

Floyd Snyder Biography
Floyd Snyder, Central Coast Photographer.
Floyd was born and raised in the north woods of Wisconsin where he learned a great appreciation for the great outdoors and all things in nature. He is a Vietnam era veteran serving the United States Air Force. He was also proud to have served on the USNS Mercury, a tracking ship that worked on the Apollo moon landing as a communications specialist. The highlight of that experience was actually getting to hear the live discussion of the astronauts and mission control.
For over 25 years Floyd operated three picture frame studios and art galleries on the Central Coast of Santa Maria where he started taking photography seriously. He originally started framing his work only to serve as samples of what sort of framing can be done.
In his own words, “I was pleasantly surprised when those samples started selling. That encouraged both my wife and I enrolled in photography classes and we started framing and selling more of our own work”.
“I try not to take things too seriously and especially taking photographs. I shoot things that I think are interesting to me at the time but may not make much sense to anyone else. That's okay with me. If you see something you like and want to buy one of my images, I sure appreciate it and that part I do take seriously. But mostly I am just sharing images, things I see and hope that others too will see the natural beauty in them.”
