Piedras Blancas Light Station is located at Point Piedras Blancas, about 5.5 miles west by northwest of San Simeon, California. First construction started in 1875 and it was opened the same year. I stands 70 feet tall in and is located at 15950 Cabrillo Hwy. San Simeon, CA. Cabrillo Hwy is also known as famous California coastals High One that runs through the Big Sur area, past Carmel and Monterey and all the way up the coast of California.
Piedras Blancas elephant seal rookery
The largest elephant seal rookery on the West Coast is located about a mile south of the lighthouse along California Highway One. A large parking area and boardwalk offer easy access to view the elephant seals. Docents from Friends of the Elephant Seal provide insight as to what the visitor is viewing. Open year-round.
