Description
Ophelia is a painting in oil on canvas of the painter Raphaelite John Everett Millais , painted in the years 1851 - 1852 and from the collection of the Tate Gallery in London . The subject is taken from ' Hamlet by William Shakespeare and captures Ofelia that just fell into the stream while picking flowers, continues to sing even though he is starting to drown. The painting has a long base horizontal and the two upper corners rounded. The central part is occupied by the splendid figure of Ophelia lying on the surface of the water with open hands and flowers in the deck that are dispersed in the current. It affects the great naturalistic rendering of the stream and the vegetation surrounding the young woman.
