Leon Kroll (1884-1974) Encouraged by Winslow
Homer to pursue a painting career, New Yorker Kroll attended
art classes in both New York and Paris. After exhibiting
works in the 1913 Armory Show, Kroll traveled to New Mexico
with Robert Henri and George Bellows. While there, he painted
some southwestern scenes, but he is best known for his New York
figure paintings and portraits.
