Description
Farming in 1940 Chamisal New Mexico by Russell Lee 1903-1986
Full title: Barns and outbuildings of Spanish-American farmer. Chamisal, New Mexico
This is a colorized version of a Spanish-American farmer standing in front of his barn surrounded by outbuildings, wood, and barbed wire fencing and farming equipment.
Chamisal is a census-designated place in Taos County, New Mexico. It is located along the scenic High Road to Taos. The population was 301 at the time of the 2000 census. It is literally in the middle of know where and one can only imagine how isolated it was back in 1940 when this picture was taken.
