Description
Cinnamon Bear British Columbia by Barbara Snyder
The cinnamon bear is a subspecies of the American black bear. This bear was shot on our trip to British Columbia.
The cinnamon bear is often mistaken for his more fierce and much larger cousin the grizzly bear but they really have very little in common.
The Grizzly is all but extinct in the lower 48 with a few still found in Montana's Yellowstone National Park and northern Montana. They are found in western Canada and Alaska and it wise to give them a wide berth especially if they are found with cubs.
Black bears are found mostly in the western and eastern lower 48, the Rocky Mountains and throughout Canada and Alaska.
