Description
White Rock Off Piedras Blanca Lighthouse Station by Floyd Snyder
The Piedras Blancas Light Station is a historic lighthouse located at Point Piedras Blancas, a rocky headland on the central coast of California, about 5.5 miles northwest of San Simeon.
The lighthouse, which was first lit in 1875, was constructed to guide ships through the treacherous waters of the Central California coastline. It stands tall at 70 feet and is a beautiful example of the Victorian architecture of the time.
The lighthouse was automated in 1975 and today it serves as an important landmark and tourist attraction. Its address is 15950 Cabrillo Highway, San Simeon, CA. The Cabrillo Highway, also known as the famous California Coastal Highway One, is a scenic drive that runs through the Big Sur area, past Carmel and Monterey, and all the way up the coast of California.
