Description

Founded by William H. Forbes in 1862, the Forbes
Lithograph Manufacturing Company was an industry leader in
the field of commercial printing. It provided steady work for a
staff of sixty designers, engravers, and lithograph artists. The
large firm produced a wide variety of printed goods, using many
different methods, including lithography, embossing, type and
block printing, Plate printing, photography, and the Albertype
process, which generated perfect reproductions of artists’ line
engravings and drawings.
