Description
Barley Field Giverny by LOUIS RITTER
Louis Ritter began his career as a lithographer. He studied at the McMicken School in 1873-74 and joined Duveneck's group in Munich in 1878 and Italy the next year. After returning to Cincinnati, Ritter, along with others in the group held a show of recent work at Closson's Art Gallery in February 1883.
The show received mildly favorable reviews and the public was indifferent. This caused Ritter to move to Boston and remained there, returning occasionally to Europe.
